Prof. Tsann-Long Hwang is an attending faculty and surgeon in general surgery at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taipei, Taiwan, where he is also the director of the Pancreatic Cancer Team, and Chairman of the Committee of Enteral and Parenteral Nutrition and Committee of Stem Cells and Tissue Engineering Research. He is also a professor of surgery at the Chang Gung University, College of Medicine, in Taiwan. Professor Hwang received his medical degree in 1977 from the National Taiwan University, College of Medicine, Taipei, Taiwan. He completed residency training in surgery at the National Taiwan University Hospital and Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, and completed a research fellowship in the Department of Surgery at Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA, from 1985 to 1986. In 1993, he was accepted as FACS. In 1994, he was appointed as professor of surgery at Chang Gung University College of Medicine. From 2000 to 2008, he was dean of the School of Medicine in Chang Gung University, Linkou, Taiwan, and vice President of Chang Gung Memorial Hospital. He was also the past President of the Taiwan Pancreatic Society from 2006 to 2009, the past President of the Taiwan Surgical Society of Gastroenterology from 2012 to 2014, and the Taiwan Neuroendocrine Tumor Society from 2019 to 2021. Professor Hwang was the past President of the International College of Surgery, Taiwan section from 2013 to 2015. He was also elected as the previous vice President and current Governor of World ICS in 2016 and 2023. He participated in many affairs of ICS in the past years and hopes to promote international collaborations with ICS in the future. Professor Hwang got the International Visiting Professorship Award of the Association of Academic Surgery in 2009. He has published more than 300 papers in peer-reviewed journals. He has contributed extensively to professional activities in his areas of expertise, esp. Nutritional field and Pancreatic malignancy in Taiwan. He is also the editor of the Journal of Hepato-Biliary Pancreatic Sciences, World Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology, Asian Journal of Surgery, and Formosan Journal of Surgery, etc

Dr. Baher Effat is a Research Professor of Food and Dairy Microbiology, at the National Research Centre, Egypt. With over 36 years of experience in Food and Dairy Bacteriology, he shared and supervised over 6 Master's and Ph.D. Thesis in Food and Dairy Sciences and more than 69 scientific publications in food and dairy microbiology, functional dairy products, probiotics and propionic acid bacteria, and pathogenic bacteria in Food and Dairy Products.

Dr. Raffaele Pilla, Pharm.D., Ph.D., Doctor Europaeus, received his Master's degree in Pharmacy at G. d'Annunzio University in Chieti-Pescara, Italy in 2005, where he also served internships at the Cell Physiology Laboratory and Molecular Biology Laboratory. Prior, he was an Erasmus Student at Faculte de Pharmacie de Reims in Reims, France. He received his Doctor Europaeus in 2010 from Pitie-Salpetriere Institute in Paris, France. Also in 2010, he received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Physiology, and Pathology of Muscle at G. d'Annunzio University in Chieti-Pescara, Italy. He was hired as a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Department of Pharmacology and Physiology at the University of South Florida in Tampa, on two research grants funded by the Office of Naval Research (US Navy) and Divers' Alert Network. He has written and lectured widely worldwide. He has been involved in ongoing research at the University of South Florida with the use of ketone esters.

Dr. Sandrina Alves Heleno (SAH) graduated in Biotechnological Engineering in 2008, obtained her master's degree in Biotechnology in 2010, and her PhD in Sciences (Chemistry) in 2014. In 2015, she was awarded a postdoc grant (2015-2018) and in 2018 she was awarded a research contract through the Scientific Employment Stimulus (CEECIND/03040/2017) and currently, she is a researcher at the Mountain Research Centre from the Polytechnic Institute of Braganca (CIMO-IPB). SAH research targets are the identification, separation, and recovery of functional molecules, as well as their implementation as ingredients and bio-actives in food, with an ultimate goal of extracting high added-value molecules and reusing them in the food chain (from agriculture to the consumer). Aligned with the recent global demands, SAH has been exploiting the agri-food sector, mainly in the valorization of bio wastes, optimizing and implementing greener processes, and optimizing ideal conditions of stability and safety for industry application. SAH has participated in national and international financed research projects, being the PI of some of them composed of multidisciplinary consortiums with several renowned enterprises and research centers, promoting the technology transfer from academia to the industry. SAH research activity resulted in the publication of dozens of indexed journals, book chapters, and patents, mainly related to the development of natural preservatives and functional foods. Moreover, SAH was awarded several prizes, highlighting first place in the European Social Innovation prize (50.000 Euros) and three National prizes (2 BornFromKnowledge,1 CA Creditoagricola (10.000 Euros). One of the international patents led to the creation of a spin-off (Tree Flowers Solutions) dedicated to the exploitation of the developed technology, a natural preservative. SAH also edited a book: Natural Secondary Metabolites - From Nature, Through Science, to Industry, from Springer Nature. She has also organized several scientific events and currently has a team composed of several researchers, and post-doctoral and PhD students. SAH also evaluates international projects and Pod-doctoral grant programs. She is also a key researcher of the collaborative laboratory AquaValor and is also part of international alliances such as PANDA (Pan-Balkan Alliance of Natural Products and Drug Discovery Associations) being a Portuguese representative in the management committee since December 7th, 2020. SAH teaches different master's and graduation classes in the field of food science and technology.

Dr. Ghazi Daradkeh is a clinical dietician supervisor in the nutrition and dietetics department - Al Khor Hospital – Hamad Medical Corporation. He joined HMC in 1996, as part of a multidisciplinary team that delivers diabetes care at Qatar Diabetes Association (QDA). He has delivered many lectures and workshops in the field of nutritional care for diabetic patients in Qatar, Egypt, and, Tunisia. In 1998, he coordinated and led Type (1) diabetes camps in Qatar, which involved children from 16 countries worldwide.

Dr. Amira Mnari Bhouri, PhD in Biological Sciences and Biotechnology is an Assistant Professor in Physiology and Researcher member of the Research Laboratory - LR12ES05 Lab-NAFS ''Nutrition-Functional Food & Vascular Health'' at Faculty of Medicine of Monastir - University of Monastir- Tunisia. She is the head of the Medical Biology Department at the Higher School of Health Sciences and Technology of Monastir at the University of Monastir in Tunisia. Amira has over 11 years of experience in teaching and research at university level. She has successfully completed several projects in the area of functional foods. She has 29 publications that have been cited over 736 times.
