Moussa Youdim was Chairman and Professor of Pharmacology from 1977 to 1994 and for establishing the department and was Finkelstein Professor of Life Sciences at the technion- Rappaport Family Faculty of Medicine . He was the Director of the Eve Topf and National Parkinson Foundation (USA) Centers of Excellence for Neurodegenerative Diseases at Technion and is now Professor Emeritus.. He holds the position of Honorary Professor and Distinguished Chair Professor at Hong Kong and PolyTechnic Universities in Hong Kong, Distinguished Scientific Professor at Yonsei University in Seoul , South Korea, Honorary Distinguished Professor at Qingdao University and Shanghai University Rujin University as well as Shanghai University Traditional Chinese Medicine in China. He is a memeber5 of Leopoldina German Academy of Sciences . He is the President of Youdim Pharmaceutical Ltd in Israel and developed the anti Parkinson drugs selegiline and Rasagiline (Azilect) and has published over 900 papers.

Jose Antonio Sanchez Alcazar (JASA), Ph.D.Bachelor of Biology and Medicine is a Professor at the University of Pablo de Olavide and principal investigator of the Andalusian Center for Developmental Biology and director of the PAIDI group (Andalusian Research Plan) BIO-336, Development and Muscle Diseases. The group is specialized in Cell Biology techniques, with extensive experience in cellular pathophysiology and search for treatments in rare diseases and in particular mitochondrial diseases. As principal investigator of national projects and collaborator of European projects, he has extensively analyzed the pathophysiology of fibroblasts of patients with mitochondrial diseases. The group also participates in TRANSAUTOPHAGY COST Action (European Cooperation in Science and Technology, CA15138), a European Network for Multidisciplinary Research in Autophagy with an emphasis on the translation of knowledge into applications. It is composed of more than 200 members, including researchers from public and private institutions, as well as small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from 28 countries in Europe and neighbouring regions. The main challenge of TRANSAUTOPHAGY is to expand multidisciplinary knowledge about autophagy and accelerate its translation: i) for biomedical purposes, in particular prevention, accurate diagnosis of diseases and the development of therapies, and ii) for biotechnological applications, such as improving crop production and bioenergy generation. Our research group proposes that the use of precision or personalized medicine techniques can be an alternative to find potential therapies in rare genetic diseases. To this end, we propose that patients' own cells can be used to perform personalized pharmacological screening for the identification of possible treatments. We have developed three platforms to perform personalized precision medicine in rare diseases: The Braincure platform for rare neurodegenerative diseases with brain accumulation of iron; the Mitocure platform for mitochondrial diseases and the Myocure platform for congenital myopathies. Projects I have participated as Principal Investigator in projects of diverse funding: FIS, Junta de Andalucia, RETOS, and article 83 type projects with companies and patient associations. I have also participated in 13 projects as a collaborating researcher, highlighting my participation in the European project UBIGENES from 2005 to 2008. Jennifer Pocock is full professor of Cellular Neuroscience at University College London, Queen Square Institute of Neurology, Department of Neuroinflammation, where, since 1996 and is head of the Cellular Signalling Laboratory. Her lab focus has been on understanding the role of microglia in neurodegeneration. In particular, she has a deep interest in the role of these innate immune cells in the pathology underlying Alzheimers disease and multiple sclerosis. She has used in vitro techniques together with cellular, molecular and biochemical methodologies to understand how microglia are protective as well as pathological. She has, with her research team, published over 90 papers on this topic, successfully supervised over 20 PhD students, many of whom have gone on to successful careers in the microglial field, and has received funding from UKRI including MRC, BBSRC, as well as the Wellcome Trust, EU Horizon 2020 (IMI), Alzheimers Research Trust, the Rosetrees Trust, Brain Research Trust, Aims2Cure, as well as funding and collaborations with industry. Her recent approach has been to understand the role of AD risk factors and to investigate how the gene variants linked to these influence microglial behavior, using iPSC-derived patient microglia to study the role of TREM2 and CD33.

Dr. Tolar trained in Neurology at the Boston Medical Center, received a Ph.D. in Neuroscience for his work on the role of apolipoprotein E in Alzheimer’s disease, and published many scientific publications in the area of neuroscience and neurodegenerative disorders. Dr. Tolar received his M.D. from Charles University in Prague, where, as a medical student, he helped organize and lead the Velvet Revolution that toppled the communist regime in the former Czechoslovakia in November 1989. In 2021, Dr. Tolar founded the International Neurodegenerative Disorders Research Center, INDRC, a global institute applying artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions to identify and validate therapeutic interventions for Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative disorders. He serves as the Chairman of the INDRC Executive Board. Dr. Tolar also serves on business and scientific boards including the Alzheimer's Drug Discovery Foundation, the Alzheimer Foundation and Advance Healthcare Management Institute. Wagih El Masri (WEM) trained as a surgeon in the field of Traumatic Spinal Cord Injuries (TSCI) and its allied surgical specialties at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, Oxford, Guys Hospital & USA between 1971&1982. His training in the specialty was accreditation by the Joint Committee of Higher Surgical and Medical Training of the Royal Colleges in the UK. He was appointed Medical Director of the Midland Centre for Spinal Injuries (44 beds). He treated over 10,000 patients with TSCI and took full responsibility for the medical/surgical treatment, rehabilitation, neuro-functional and other relevant outcomes of over 3000 patients from the first few hours/days of injury. He provided an injury to end of life service to his patients with regular follow up assessments and readmission of patients to the Centre when necessary. Dr. Feng Tao is a Professor and Associate Department Head in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at Texas A&M University School of Dentistry. WenquanZou, Distinguished Professor. Dr. Zou is the Director of the Institute of Neurology and Executive Dean of the Jiangxi Academy of Clinical Medical Sciences, the First Hospital of Nanchang University, Jiangxi Province, China. Before joining Nanchang University, Dr. Zou was a tenured Professor of Departments of Pathology and Neurology, and Associate Director of National Prion Disease Pathology Surveillance Center, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, USA. Dr. Zous research focus is in the area of prion disease and other neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimers disease (AD) and Parkinson disease (PD). Currently, the Zou laboratory is developing skin-based early diagnostic biomarkers with ultrasensitive seed-amplification assays for prion disease, PD, AD, and other neurodegenerative diseases as well as studying their pathogenic mechanism using animal and cell models.

Dr. Guoyan Zhao is an assistant Professor in the Department of Genetics and Department of Neurology at Washington University School of Medicine (WUSM) in St. Louis. She is a member of the Steering Committee and the co-Director of the Data Coreof the PRECISION Human Pain Network. Dr. Zhao have served on multiple NIH study sections as the Chair, Vice Chair, or ad hoc reviewers,as well as a Guest Editor for the journal Biology. Dr. Zhao obtained her doctoral degree from WUSM. As a Ruth L. Kirschstein Postdoctoral Fellow, she received interdisciplinary training in computational biology at WUSM. After postdoctoral training, Dr. Zhao joined the Department of Pathology and Immunology as a supervisor and founding member of the Pathogen Discovery Facility. Her group has developed multiple efficient viral search algorithms widely adopted in the virome and metagenomics field. In April 2018, Dr, Zhao joined the Department of Neuroscience at WUSMto establish her own laboratory. Since then, she has successfully established a NIH funded, nationally recognized, and highly collaborative research program. Her laboratory employs multiple cutting-edge technologies in genomics and computational biology to investigate the gene expression regulatory networks that control the development and function of mammalian brains in the context of human health and disease. Dr. Zhaoleads has an excellent research team consisting of talented graduate students, postdocs, and bioinformatics research analysts represented by researchers from multiple countries with diverse racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds. She has over 70 peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals and multiple patents licensed by companies for further drug development.

Dr. Indranath Chatterjee is working as a Professor in the Department of Computer Engineering at Tongmyong University, Busan, South Korea. He received his Ph. Luigi Zecca MD is a senior scientist at Institute of Biomedical Technologies-CNR (Italy). He has studied neuromelanins and metals in human brain and has shown that neuromelanins are ubiquitous in human brain, occur in special autolysosomes and accumulate in aging. He has demonstrated a link between aging and neurodegeneration in Parkinsons disease mediated by neuromelanin. He has also shown that neuromelanins can play either a protective or toxic role depending on the cellular context in brain aging and Parkinsons disease. He has described the paramagnetic and other physico-chemical properties of the neuromelanin-iron complex that are the fundamentals which allowed the development of magnetic resonance imaging of neuromelanin, which is becoming a new tool for diagnosis of Parkinsons disease.

Michel Bourguignon MD, PhD, is a nuclear medicine specialist and a biophysicist. He worked for 16 years in the medical research department of the French Atomic Energy Commissariat (CEA). He was appointed in 1996 as a full professor with the university Paris Saclay (UVSQ) and national director of radiological protection with the French nuclear safety authority (ASN). He has worked for more than 20 years on the individual response to ionizing radiation. He became professor emeritus in 2020 and joined UMR 1296 research unit Radiation : Defense, Health and Environment devoted to the signalization and repair of DNA damage and especially to the individual response to ionizing radiation, oxidative stress and genotoxicants. UMR 1296 is supported by the French National institute for Health and Medical Research (Inserm), the Health Service of French Army and the University of Lyon. Monica Alvarez Cordoba, PhD in Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering and Technology. Graduated in Biology from the University of Cordoba with a masters degree in Experimentation in Biotechnology from the Pablo de Olavide University. Currently, she is a postdoctoral researcher Torres Quevedo in Pronacera Therapeutics S.L in collaboration with Pablo de Olavide University. Her main project is personalized medicine in neurodegenerative diseases focusing on the search for treatments for Neurodegeneration with Brain Iron Accumulation.

Dr. Shengtao Hou is a Professor of Neurobiology. He is the Founding Director of the SUSTech Brain Research Center, Executive Director of the SUSTech Institute of Neuroscience. He is also the Deputy Chair for the Department of Biology and Founding Director for SUSTech Global Engagement Office. He received his doctoral degree from the Faculty of Medicine, the University of Glasgow in 1991. After completing his postdoctoral training at Kings College London (1991-1993) and the Department of Biochemistry, University of Bristol (1993-1996), Dr. Hou was recruited by the National Research Council of Canada as an Assistant Research Officer in May 1996. Since then, Dr. Hou has risen to the rank of Group leader, Senior Research Officer (tenured position, since 2005). He is also an Adjunct Full Professor at the Department of Biochemistry, Immunology, and Microbiology of the University of Ottawa (since 2002) to train doctoral and postdoctoral students. Professor Houss research focuses on identifying novel molecular targets in the complex cascade of the post-stroke brain and developing novel experimental strategies and drugs relevant to clinical therapeutics.

Dr. med. Sigrid Breit is a psychiatrist working at the University Hospital of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy of Bern in Switzerland. She completed her medical studies in 11/2012 at the Albert-Ludwigs University in Freiburg in Germany and received her doctorate in 09/2014 with a thesis on Maladaptive Shemas in Adult Patients with ADHD. In 02/2013 she went to Switzerland to start her medical residency at the University Hospital of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy in Bern. She attained the medical specialist title Psychiatry and Psychotherapy in 10/2019. During her medical residency she was also very engaged with research projects in the field of neuroimaging in depressive disorder, the effect of electroconvulsive therapy in patients with catatonia and the book project. The Gut-Brain Axis. In 03/2020 she started her fellowship in Psychiatry and Clinical Psychobiology, Division of Neuroscience at Ospedale San Raffaele in Milan in Italy on the topic white matter integrity and pro-inflammatory cytokines as predictors of antidepressant response. Since 09/2021 she works as a consultant in the outpatient care and consultation and liaison services at the Polyclinic of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy of the University of Bern. Her research interests lie in Biological Psychiatry with a focus on neuroimaging and neuroplasticity in affective disorders and in particular the treatment and prevention of depressive disorder.

Jinbin Xu, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Radiology at Washington University School of Medicine, is extensively experienced in the biomedical imaging sciences, focusing on the development and characterization of probes/therapeutics for receptor- and enzyme-based central nervous system (CNS) and oncology imaging/therapy using in vivo Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and in vitro quantitative autoradiography. Dr. Xu developed a novel autoradiography procedure for measuring dopamine D2 and D3 receptor density ratios. He also played a crucial role in validating the sigma-2 receptor as an imaging biomarker for cell proliferation and developing sigma-2 receptor antagonists against Aβ oligomer toxicity in human neurons as therapeutic agents in Alzheimer disease. Dr. Xu is currently leading a diverse team and conducting various innovative pre-clinical research via modern technologies such as quantitative imaging, biochemistry, genetics, proteomic, radiomics, and proteomics.

Paula Cilleros Holgado is graduated in Biochemistry by the University of Seville with a masters degree in Health Biotechnology by the Pablo de Olavide University. Currently, she is doing her PhD at Sanchez Alcazars lab focusing on personalized medicine in mitochondrial diseases.

Throughout my scientific career, I have been interested in how post-transcriptional gene regulation drives neuronal differentiation and brain development. The focus of my research concerned regulatory RNAs, such as miRNAs and circular RNAs, and their expression and function in the healthy and diseased mammalian nervous system. As leader of organoid platform at MDC, I aim to develop 3D brain models for diseases such as Leigh Syndrome, Alzheimers disease and infectious brain diseases, and to employ single cell and spatial transcriptomics technologies to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying disease development and progression. My major goal is to further engineer the brain organoid culture systems and improve in-vitro neural tissue maturation. We currently implement technologies to vascularize brain organoids (assembly of brain and blood vessel organoids) and incorporate microglia into our systems in order to realize long-term maturation of three-dimensional neural tissues.

Diana Cunha-Reis is a Researcher and Integrated member of BioSystems & Integrative Sciences Institute (BioISI) and Department of Biology (DBV) at the Faculty of Sciences University of Lisbon (FCUL) since July 2019. She graduated in Biochemistry in 1999 at FCUL and completed her PhD in Biomedical Sciences, Neuroscience Specialty at the Faculty of Medicine University of Lisbon (FMUL), Portugal in 2007. As part of her PhD studies she was a visiting fellow at the Rudolph-Boehm Institute for Pharmacology and Toxicology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Leipzig, Germany and Swammerdam Institute for Neurobiology, Faculty of Biology, University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. From 2007 to 2010 she was a postdoctoral research fellow at the Neuroscience Unit, Instituto de Medicina Molecular, FMUL, Portugal. From January 2012 to June 2019 Diana Cunha-Reis was a postdoctoral researcher fellow at Centro de Quimica e Bioquimica, DQB, FCUL, Clínica Universitaria de Neurologia and Instituto de Medicina Molecular, FMUL, Portugal. From September 2012 to September 2014 Diana Cunha-Reis was assistant professor in Human Physiology (course responsible) at ECTS, Universidade Lusofona de Humanidades e Tecnologias, Lisbon, Portugal and from October 2019 to September 2021 she was coordinator of the Physiology course of the Biochemistry BSc degree at DQB, FCUL She was secretary of the Portuguese Physiological Society from October 2019 to November 2022. She was PI of two FCT research projects and contributed as team member to 10 national (FCT) and European (COST) Research projects. She is an invited Senior member of British Pharmacological Society (BPS) and International Society for Neurochemistry (ISN) since 2017. She is a member of Portuguese Physiological Society (SPFis). She is also member of Portuguese Neuroscience Society (SPN, this is a member of FENS and IBRO) and Portuguese Pharmacological Society (SPF, this is a member of EPHAR and IUPHAR). Her research interests are focused on the development of innovative therapeutic strategies for mesial temporal lobe epilepsy (MTLE). In particular, she is committed to the elucidation of the therapeutic benefit of neuropeptides (in particular, VIP-related peptides) and of the ketogenic diet in MTLE, the development of neuropeptide therapeutic delivery strategies for MTLE prevention and the development of cognitive training strategies to attenuate cognitive decline in MTLE.

My research work mainly focuses on the construction and function of DNA nanomachines, which are cutting-edge and challenging topics. I designed and constructed unique DNA motifs using a short circular DNA nanotechnology technique and functionalized these probes with fluorophores, gold nanoparticles, small molecular drugs, and peptide ligands. To achieve plasmon resonance effects, I achieved nano-specific precision in organizing plasmonic nanoparticles on the nano DNA frameworks. My work on the DNA nanomachines provided an efficient fluorescence resonance energy transfer mechanism that realizes the bio-imaging, detection of biological events, and functions of the biomolecules. I have also been working on multilayered hybrid magnetic nanoparticles for applications in nanomedicine for the last three years

Dr. Kalliopi Megari is a Postdoctoral researcher of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece and Adjunct lecturer at University of Western Macedonia in Florina, Greece. She is a lecturer and program leader of MSc in Clinical Psychology, of City College, University of York, Europe Europe Campus. She is a psychologist with a history of working in the hospital & health care industry, skilled in Clinical Neuropsychology, Clinical Research, Medical Education, Psychological Assessment and Learning Disabilities. She works both in clinical and in research practice and she provides strong professional healthcare services, graduated from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and attended further education from Department of Educational and Social Policy, University of Macedonia, in people with special needs and disabilities. She holds undergraduate degrees in Nursing and Psychology, as well as a Master’ s and a PhD in Neuropsychology from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She has some years of occupational and research experience working with patients who have neurological, psychiatric, and cognitive disorders, as well as chronic disease patients suffering from cancer and cardiovascular diseases. She is the head of Centre of creative activities of children and adults with disabilities and she also works as a counseling psychologist in Prison, Diavata Thessaloniki, at the school of second chance. She was the Global Engagement Representative of SLC International Neuropsychological Society from 2018-2021 and she was a research fellow in Department of Cardiovascular Surgery in AHEPA Hospital. Currently she is a Global Membership Committee member of International Neuropsychological Society and leader of Rehabilitation of COVID-19 patients working group of NeuroCOVID International Neuropsychology Taskforce SIG. In addition, she is the General Secretary of the board of directors of Hellenic Neuropsychological Society and Ethics Committee president of Hellenic Neuropsychological Society. Since 2021, she is a member of PIAC Community Outreach Subcommittee of AMERICAN PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION Membership and a member of Engagement Committee of American Group Psychotherapy Association (AGPA). Her work has earned her many prestigious international awards. She has given lectures at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, University of Warsaw and Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Oslo. She is committed to leadership skills and issues on equity, diversity, and inclusion as her clinical and research work states.

Marco Feligioni graduated in pharmaceutical chemistry and holds a Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Toxicology. His research has been always focused on the study of neurotransmitter release mechanisms in physiological and pathological conditions. In this perspective, during his Ph.D. he worked in the UK coming across protein SUMOylation. He started to study how SUMOylation modulates the release of glutamate and he published the first paper in which has been demonstrated that elevated SUMO can reduce glutamate release. After this observation, several papers demonstrated that SUMOylation controls the release mechanism by modifying Syntaxin1a, Synapsin, and other SNARE complex proteins. Then he settled his own lab, and he continued the study of protein SUMOylation in neurodegenerative diseases since it is known now that SUMO can control the localization, aggregation, and degradation of several proteins related to neurodegeneration. So he is interested in exploring the role of SUMO in the synaptic failure in AD and Tauopathies and lately, he is interested in investigating the role of SUMO in the aggregation and degradation of several proteins like Tau, and APP related to AD. Recently he discovered the SUMOylation of TDP43, an important protein in ALS, which will be the objective of the next publications. Moreover, he published a recent paper on the protective role of a-synuclein isoforms SUMOylation on their aggregations. He is working on understanding the SUMOylation role in Alzheimers patients tissues and he is still working on SUMOylation in Tg2576 mice model of AD. Recently, his research is also focused in identifying synaptic and neuronal markers in peripheral blood samples of patients affected by different neurodegenerative pathologies like Alzheimers Parkinsons, ALS s.
