Rodrigo Martins, Portuguese nationality, was born in Nova Lisboa, Angola. He got a 1974 Honours degree in Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications, and applied Electronics from U. Luanda, Angola/ PT. In 1977 he got an MSc degree in Semiconductor Materials, from the University of Dundee, Scotland. Thesis title: Photoconductivity in P-Doped and Undoped Amorphous Germanium. Supervisor W. Spear, 1977 Euro physicist award. In 1982, a Ph.D. in Energy conversion and Semiconductors from the New University of Lisbon, Portugal. Thesis title: a-Si: H solar cells processing and characterization. In 1988 he got a Habilitation in Semiconductor Materials and Microelectronics, from the New University of Lisbon, Portugal. Lesson title: Density of states in disordered semiconductors. Full Professor at FCT-NOVA since 2002 in the area of Materials Engineering, with specialty Materials for Energy, Microelectronics, and Nanotechnologies.

Dr. Daoud is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the City University of Hong Kong. He graduated from the University of Technology Graz, Austria, with a Dipl-Ing degree (BS and MS) in Chemical Engineering and received his Ph.D. in flexible bilayer photovoltaic cells from the University of Sheffield, UK. Dr. Daoud’s current research is mainly focused on the areas of energy harvesting and smart wearable technologies. His group is developing approaches for harvesting free or waste energy, such as light and kinetic energies. Being intermittent sources, it is equally important to finding storage solutions for this form of energy. Therefore, the group is interested in the modeling and design of compatible batteries. He has received international renown and several awards for his pioneering research on wearable solar and kinetic energy harvesting technologies. His research has been featured in Nature (2004) and Science (2008) and broadcasted through interviews with major international media, such as Reuters (2014), BBC (2015) SCMP (2017), Physics World (2021), and PV Magazine (2022). He has been invited to present Plenary and Keynote lectures at international conferences and is currently serving as the Chief Editor of Wearable Electronics, Frontiers in Electronics, and Editorial/Advisory Board of the Journal of Power Sources Advances and Industrial Chemistry & Materials. 

Prof. Ki Tae Nam is currently a Professor at Seoul National University. His research field of interest is bio-inspired nanomaterials (protein-like inorganic materials, peptide nanomaterials) and artificial photosynthesis (water oxidation, CO2 reduction). Prof. Nam got his B.S (2000) and M.S (2002) degrees from the Department of Materials Science & Engineering at SeoulNationalUniversity. In 2007, he obtained a Ph.D. degree at MIT and his Ph.D. thesis about the virus-based battery was recognized with the best Ph.D. thesis award. Between 2007 and 2010, he spent three years at the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab as a Postdoctoral Fellow, working on peptide mimetic materials. In 2010, he come back to Seoul National University and now is a full professor in the Materials Science & Engineering Department. Recently in 2017, he was awarded the Young Faculty Award (Presidential award) by the Korean President. Also, he has received various prestigious awards such as Ten major nanotechnologies in 2018 (Ministry of Science and ICT), In 2018, the Best National R&D Achievement (Ministry of Science, ICT, and Future Planning). Dr. Yiping Zhao received his B.S. degree in Electronics from Peking University in 1991，and MS degree in condensed matter physics from Institute of Semiconductors, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1994. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Physics at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1999. He is currently a Distinguished Research Professor at the Department of Physics and Astronomy in University of Georgia, Fellow of SPIE (the International Society of Optics and Photonics), and Fellow of AVS (American Vacuum Society). Prof. Zhao is the author or co-author of more than 300 peer reviewed journal papers, 30 conference proceeding papers, 2 books, 9 book chapters, and 12 US patents. His major research interests are nanostructures and thin films fabrication and characterization, plasmonic nanostructures, chemical and biological sensors, nano-photocatalysts, antimicrobial materials, nanomotors,and nanotechnology for stroke treatment.

Eugene Kamenetskii received a diploma of Engineer in Electrical Engineering and a Ph.D. degree in Physics and Mathematics from the Electrical Engineering Institute, Leningrad, former Soviet Union. He is present with the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Ben-Gurion University of Negev, Israel. He is an author of 200 refereed journal and conference papers. He was an editor of 3 books: "Electromagnetic, magnetostatic, and exchange-interaction vortices in confined magnetic structures", Research Signpost Publisher (2008), "Fano Resonances in Optics and Microwaves" Springer (2018), and "Chirality, magnetism, and magnetoelectricity: Separate phenomena and joint effects in metamaterial structures" Springer (2021). Professor Vladimir G. Chigrinov is Professor of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology since 1999. Prof. Dr. Yan Zhang, dean of Beijing Key Lab for Metamaterials and Devices. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from the Harbin Institute of Technology and doctor degree from the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Science. He has worked at Yamagata University, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Stuttgart University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and University Konstanz. His research interests include terahertz imaging and spectroscopy, surface plasmonic optics, and optical information processing. Constantin Simovski, a professor, defended his Ph.D. thesis in 1986 at the Polytechnic University of Leningrad (USSR) and his Habilitation thesis in 2000 at the same university, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. In 2001 he became a full professor at ITMO University in St. Petersburg. Since 2008, he has been with the Helsinki University of Technology, presently at Aalto University. Full professor at Aalto University since 2012. Xiangwei Zhao is a professor at the State Key Laboratory of Bioelectronics, Southeast University. He graduated from Zhejiang University with a Ph.D. degree in 2006 and then joined Southeast University. He has been a visiting scholar at Osaka University (2008), Michigan University Ann Arbor (2011), University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (2011), and Harvard University (2013). His research focus on biomedical detection and analysis, including nanophotonics, spatial transcriptomics, POCT, etc.

Dr. Yu Sheng Lin received his Ph.D. degree in the Institute of Nanoengineering and Microsystems at the National Tsing Hua University (NTHU), Taiwan, in 2011. From 2012 to 2014, he joined the department of electrical and computer engineering (ECE) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) as a senior research fellow. Currently, he is an associate professor at the school of Electronics and Information Technology at Sun Yat-Sen University (SYSU) in Guangzhou, China. His research interests include N/MEMS, metamaterials, nanophotonics, and microfluidics, for sensors, optoelectronics, and biomedical applications. Dr. Qin is currently an associate professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Tsinghua University, China. He received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University, China, in 2003 and 2006, respectively, and a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tsinghua University, China, in 2010. He is serving as an Associate Editor of Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part C: Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science, and an Editorial Board Member of Nanotechnology Reviews. Patrizia Livreri is an Associate Professor at the University of Palermo, Department of Engineering, Italy, and a Visiting Professor at the San Diego State University (CA), USA. Patrizia Livreri received her Master's Degree (cum laude) in Electronics Engineering, and her Ph.D. in Electronics and Communications Engineering from the University of Palermo in 1986 and 1992, respectively. She is an author or a co-author of more than 200 scientific publications. Prof. Pralay Kumar Karmakar completed his Ph.D. at the Centre of Plasma Physics Institute for Plasma Research (CPP-IPR), Guwahati, India. The award was conferred by Gauhati University. He joined Tezpur University as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics, Tezpur University, Tezpur, India. Andrea Cusano is a Full Professor of Electronics, Optoelectronics, and Photonics at the University of Sannio. His research interests are focused on the suitable merging of optical fibers and nanotechnologies and were the pioneer of the “Lab on fiber Technology” concept, nowadays recognized as an hot topic in nanophotonics.
