Biography
Professor Liew is the Chair Professor of Civil Engineering, City University of Hong Kong. Prior to this, Professor Liew was Head of the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering and Chair Professor of Building and Construction, City University of Hong Kong, a tenured Professor at Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) and the Founding Director of Nanyang Center for Supercomputing and Visualization. Professor Liew is an elected Foreign Member of the Academia Europaea. He is a Fellow of the HKIE (Hong Kong), ASME (USA), IMechE (UK) and IES (Singapore); a Chartered Engineer registered under the Engineering Council of UK and a Registered Professional Engineer under the Hong Kong Engineers Registration Board. Over his academic career, he has published over 850 SCI journal articles. Professor Liew is listed by the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) as a Highly Cited Researcher in engineering. His publications have been cited over 41,000 times since 1991 and his current h-index is 83 (ISI) or 101 (Google Scholar). To date, Professor Liew has attracted over US$50 million research and development funds from government funding agencies, industries and higher institutions. He has graduated over 70 PhD students and supervised over 70 Post-doc fellows. His students are well received by industries and many of them have become faculty members of universities worldwide.
Biography
With three doctorates in chemical engineering, mineral processing and business economics, Jannie van Deventer has knowledge and experience at the interface of technology, finance and business. Jannie is CEO of Zeobond in Melbourne, Australia, and is an honorary professorial fellow at the University of Melbourne, where he was Dean of Engineering until 2007. Jannie van Deventer is one of the world's highest cited researchers in cement and concrete research, with a Scopus h-index of 82 and a Scopus citation count of more than 26,000. Also, he was recently ranked number 2 in the world in mining and metallurgy research by Stanford University. Jannie has received several awards for his research and has been listed three times as one of Australia's most influential engineers. Jannie is a frequent plenary and keynote speaker at research and industry conferences. He has served on several editorial boards and is an associate editor of Waste and Biomass Valorization. He has a track record of commercialising processing technology, including E-Crete ultra-low cements and concrete through Zeobond that he founded in 2006. He also developed and commercialised one of the first videographic systems for the monitoring of flotation froths in the mineral industry, as well as several inventions in the extraction of gold. Besides Zeobond, Jannie is currently involved with partners in the development and commercialisation of technology to recover precious metals from abnormal ores, as well as the conversion of a variety of waste sources to energy and liquid fuels.

Dr. Zhanping You earned his PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana - Champaign in 2003. He is a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Michigan Technological University. Dr. You has completed research projects related to road materials, pavement engineering, and sustainable building materials. He has led research projects from engineering practice of roads to pavement science with funding from federal, state, and local agencies. Dr. You has received numerous recognitions. He was awarded U.S. Department of Transportations Dwight David Eisenhower Transportation Fellowship in 2001. In both 2004 and 2005, he was awarded the Dwight David Eisenhower Transportation Faculty Fellowship. He earned the prestigious Michigan Tech Research Award in 2019 and University Distinguished Professorship. He was named as Fellow of ASCE in 2020, Fellow of ASCEs EMI in 2021 and Fellow of the International Association of Advanced Materials in 2020. Dr. You served as the Chair to ASCE Engineering Mechanics Institutes Pavements Committee and CIs Bituminous Materials Committee. He is also the guest editor for other journals outside of ASCE.

Eric Shen is the Director of Capital Projects in the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments. He is responsible for planning and implementing a wide spectrum of capital projects throughout the San Gabriel Valley. He administers the on-going Alameda Corridor East (ACE) program related professional services and construction management. Eric is a registered Professional Engineer in Alabama and California (Civil), a Professional Transportation Planner (PTP), and a Certified Port Executive (CPE). Eric joined the Viterbi School of Engineering as an industry lecturer in 2008, after having had lectured at the School of Engineering in UC Irvine and UCLA for 10 years. Eric was appointed to Adjunct Associate Professor, Civil Engineering & Environmental Engineering Practice in 2017. He regularly teaches Traffic Engineering & Control (CE585) and Transportation Studio (PPD531) in the School of Sol Price Public Policy.

Prof. Slobodan P. Simonovic is universally acknowledged as one of the worlds leading authorities on the application of Systems Analysis to water and environmental management. He advanced the understanding of water and environmental systems, by providing decision-makers with tools to support their sustainable management. He provides unparalleled contributions to global and local management of water that have improved the lives and livelihoods of millions of people worldwide. His work has a significant impact on our understanding of system linkages between humans, and build and natural environments that lead to sustainable water resources management and resilience as a new development paradigm.

Prof. Hong-Nan Li is the Chair Professor of Faculty of Infrastructure Engineering, Dalian University of Technology (DUT), China. He is a member of the EU Academy of Sciences and a fellow of ASCE. He got the Ph. D., M. S. and B. S. in 1990, 1987 and 1982, respectively. He is a Cheung Kong Scholars Program engaged professor, serves as Vice Chairman of China Panel, International Association for Structural Control and Monitoring; and Vice Chairman of Advanced Materials and Structures, ASCE Aerospace Division; Chairman of Panel of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). Also, he is Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal, Structural Health Monitoring and Maintenance, Associate Editor of ASCE Journal of Aerospace Engineering, and Editorial Board member of Soil Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering, Sensors and so on. His research interests are in Structural control and monitoring, disaster prevention and reduction, and Earthquake engineering. He got more than 50 research funds from governments and industrial companies and applied to more than 70 practical engineering projects with his new techniques and methods. He has gotten more than 70 patents, and published 7 books and more than 400 journal papers. He got 3 national awards of Science and Technology and 10 provincial awards. Also, he got the Outstanding Contribution Award from ASCE Aerospace Division in 2014. He is active in international cooperation with the United States, Japan, Australia, Korea et al.

Dr. Zongjin LI is Chair professor at University of Macau. He received his B.E. from Zhejiang University in 1982 and obtained both his M.S. and PhD from North Western University, Chicago, in 1990 and 1993, respectively. He is a fellow of American Concrete Institute, Chair of China Group of RILEM and Founding President of ACI China Chapter. As the chief scientist, he has led a China Key National Basic Research Project (973), Basic study on environmentally friendly contemporary concrete. He also founded the Gordon Research Conference, Advanced Materials for Sustainable Infrastructure Development in 2014. He has published 5 technical books, in which Advanced Concrete Technology published by John Wiley has been collected by many national libraries and major university libraries and used by many universities as text or reference books for civil engineering. He has also published more than 400 technical papers with a Google Scholar citation of 19649 and H-index of 76. He has also been awarded eight US and seven Chinese patents. Three of his patents have been developed into commercial products. He received the Arthur R. Anderson Medal from American Concrete Institute in 2017 and Distinguished Visiting Fellowship Award from British Royal Academy of Engineering in 2014.

Dr. Yeong-Bin Yang received his Ph.D. degree from Cornell University in 1984. He is a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, a foreign member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, and a member of the EU Academy of Sciences. Currently, he is Honorary Dean of Civil Engineering, Chongqing University, Professor of Chongqing University of Science and Technology, and Professor Emeritus of National Taiwan University (NTU). Also, he is Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Structural Stability and Dynamics (IJSSD), and Editorial Board member of Engineering Structures, Journal of Sound and Vibration, etc. Previously, he was President of National Yunlin University of Science and Technology (Yun Tech), Dean of College of Engineering, NTU, Chairman of Civil Engineering Department, NTU, President of Asian-Pacific Association of Computational Mechanics (APACOM), and Chairman of International Steering Committee of East Asia-Pacific Conference on Structural Engineering and Construction (EASEC). In addition, he was the founding president of the Association of Computational Mechanics Taiwan, and president of four societies in Taiwan: Institute of Engineering Education Taiwan, Chinese Institute of Civil and Hydraulic Engineering, Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, and Chinese Society of Structural Engineering. He has published over 270 refereed journal papers, focused on the following areas: structural nonlinear theory and analysis, vehicle-bridge interaction dynamics, train-induced wave propagation, and vehicle scanning method for bridges. Dr. Wai Yuen Szeto is a Professor and an Associate Head at the Department of Civil Engineering at The University of Hong Kong, and the Deputy Director of the Institute of Transport Studies at that university. He is a Top 1 % Scholar 2015-2020 (according to Clarivate Analytics' Essential Science Indicators). His current h-index is 52 (Google scholar). He is an author of over 150 refereed journal papers, with two papers in Operations Research and 33 papers in Transportation Research Part B. His publications have been cited over 7795 times (Google scholar). The publications are related to shared mobility, dynamic traffic assignment, transport network design, public transport, network reliability, game theoretic approaches to transport and logistic problems, modeling land use, transport and environment interaction, and sustainable transport. He received the World Conference on Transport Research Prize (2001), the Eastern Asia Society for Transportation Studies Outstanding Paper Award (2003), the Hong Kong Society for Transportation Studies Outstanding Dissertation Paper Award and the Gordon Newell Memorial Prize (2005), the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers Outstanding Paper Award for Young Engineers/Researchers (2008), the Best Paper Award of the 10th International Workshop on Computational Transportation Science (2018), and the Outstanding Paper Award of the 2018 China Urban Transportation Planning Annual Meeting. He also received Certificate of Excellence in Reviewing from Transportation Research Part B in 2013 and Transportation Research Part C in 2013 and 2016. Dr. Chongmin Song is a Professor of Civil Engineering and the Director of the Centre for Infrastructure Safety and Engineering, University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. He obtained the degree of Bachelor of Engineering from Tsinghua University, China and the degree of Doctor of Engineering from the University of Tokyo, Japan. His current research interests are on the development of advanced numerical methods and their engineering applications. He is one of the two original creators of the scaled boundary finite element method Song, The Scaled Boundary Finite Element Method: Introduction to Theory and Implementation, John Wiley & Sons Ltd, 2018; Wolf and Song, Finite-Element Modelling of Unbounded Media, John Wiley & Sons Ltd, 1996). He is a Member of the General Council of the International Association of Computational Mechanics.

Research Summary: Dr. Pellenq's research interests focus on the thermodynamics and dynamic properties of molecular, ionic, and covalent fluids confined in porous materials (zeolites, microporous carbons, mesoporous oxide materials, clay, cement, and others). Using atomistic simulation techniques, he integrates adsorption intermolecular potentials to describe a material's texture at the nano level.

Dr. Shivakumar is the Director of Center for Composite Materials Research at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. He received his B.E. from University College of Engineering, and M.E. and Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. After his Ph.D. he moved to NASA Langley Research Center, Hampton, Virginia as a National Research Council Resident Research Associate. He continued to work there for 12 years at various capacities including Research Associate Professor from Old Dominion University and Senior Scientist from Analytical Services and Materials Inc. After that, he moved to North Carolina A&T State University as a professor of mechanical engineering. During his tenure at A&T, he built a strongPolymer Composite Program including a processing & fabrication lab, test lab and modeling of composite structures. He enhanced the capabilities of the composite center by addingnew equipment, in-house built one-of-kind equipment, test methods and test equipment. Trained and inspired staff members and students to perform at the cutting-edgeresearch. He attracted research funding from NASA, ONR, ARMY, AFRL, NSF, and FAA and industries like Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Atlantic Research Corporation, GE-Aircraft Engines, and 3TEX Inc. to a tune of $15 million to build a strong polymer composite research program. Dr. Shivakumar has graduated more than 20 Ph.D. and many MS students and all are well placed in aerospace related industries and in government research laboratories. Dr. Shivakumar is always proud of his students. He has published more than 250 peer-reviewed articles with his students and colleagues in journals and conferences and made equal number of presentations. He serves as an external reviewer for many Ph.D. theses and promotions, including Indian institutions. Dr. Shivakumar works in a number of technical committees and societies, specifically in advancing composite materials and structures research and education. Dr. Shivakumar was an Associate Editor of AIAA journal and reviewer for many other journals and conferences. Dr. Shivakumar is an Associate Fellow of AIAA and member of ASME and ASC. Dr. Shivakumar has received many awards from NASA, AIAA, AS & M Inc., North Carolina A&T State University, and Indian Institute of Science. Dr. Shivakumar has two US patents in carbon-carbon-composite technology and many patent disclosures. He has developed copyrighted software codes and test fixtures. During last six-years he has dedicated his efforts development and application of Coal Ash-Composites for Societal Benefits and infrastructures.

Xiaobo Qu is a Chair Professor (with tenure) in the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering, Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden. His research is focused on improving large, complex and interrelated urban mobility systems by integrating with emerging technologies. More specifically, his research has been applied to the improvement of emergency services, operations of electric vehicles and connected automated vehicles, and management of electric transport networks. He has authored or co-authored over 120 journal articles published at top tier journals, many of which have appeared at journals with a broader impact than his own research community. Before his current appointment, he was a professor (with tenure) at Chalmers (2018-2019), and a senior lecturer/lecturer (with tenure, 2012-2017) in two Australian universities. He is an elected Member of Academia Europaea the Academy of Europe since Aug 2020, and an elected Fellow of the European Academy of Sciences since Jan 2020.

Dr. Achintya Haldar is active in the areas of structural health assessment and monitoring for over three decades and published extensively. He taught at Illinois Institute of Technology, Georgia Institute of Technology, and now at the University of Arizona. He was a Guest Professor at the University of Tokyo, Visiting Professor at the IISc Bangalore, IIT Kanpur, Hong Kong University of Science & Technology, Technical University of Ostrava, Czech Republic, Honorary Distinguished Visiting Professor at BESU. He also worked for Engineers India Ltd, New Delhi and Bechtel Power Corp, Los Angeles. Dr. Haldar has published over 635 technical articles, including 11 books, and 35 over book chapters.Dr. Haldar is Distinguished Member of ASCE and a Fellow of SEI. He also received Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society for Reliability and Safety and inducted in to Teaching Excellence Award Wall, Georgia Tech. He received many research awards including a Presidential Award from President Reagan, ASCE's Huber Civil Engineering Research prize, John C. Park Outstanding Civil Engineer Award, an Honorable Diploma from the Czech Society for Mechanics. Professor Sanchez-Silva's area of expertise is risk analysis and stochastic modeling to support the decision making-process in engineering under uncertain conditions. He works extensively on Probabilistic Risk Analysis (PRA) and approximate measures to estimate potential risks for infrastructure, network systems and industrial facilities. Furthermore, he has experience on estimating risk in complex problems under conditions where information is partial, incomplete and difficult to quantify. Finally, he has been involved in projects where the socioeconomic and environmental contexts play a significant role and, therefore, traditional risk modeling and engineering methods can only be applied partially. Some of his current areas of research include: development of infrastructure systems (structures and lifelines); stochastic modeling of deteriorating systems and structures; flexibility, adaptability and resilience of infrastructure; and decision-making for resource allocation and cost effectiveness of investments in the design and operation of various types of facilities.

Xiangming is a Professor and Head of Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering, College of Engineering, Design and Physical Sciences at Brunel University London. He joined Brunel in October 2008 as a lecturer and was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2011, Reader in 2016 and Professor in 2018. Before joined Brunel, he was a Lecturer then Senior Lecturer in Structural Engineering at the University of Greenwich from January 2007 to September 2008. He conducted post-doctoral research at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and Hong Kong Polytechnic University from January 2005 to January 2007. At Hong Kong Polytechnic University, he received University Post-doctoral Fellowship. He received his PhD in Civil Engineering from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in December 2004. He also holds two degrees, BEng in Civil & Structural Engineering and MEng (Res) in Structural Engineering awarded in 1997 and 2000, respectively, both by Tongji University, Shanghai, China. Xiangming's research covers a broad range of fields in Construction Materials and technology, with a focus on cement and concrete, and structural engineering. In the area of Construction Materials and technology, he focuses on advanced concrete technology such as extrusion, 3D printing, additive manufacturing, low carbon and energy-efficient (through encapsulated phase-change materials (PCMs)) cementitious materials and energy-efficient buildings, cementless but cement-like materials such as magnesium oxychloride cement and geopolymer / alkali-activated cement made from metakaolin, calcined clay, pulverised fly ash (PFA), mining waste and/or ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) etc., valorization of construction and demolition waste (CDW) and mining waste, testing and modelling of rheology and early-age engineering properties of cement-based materials for extrusion and 3D printing, fracture testing and modelling of concrete, restrained shrinkage cracking of concrete, synthetic and/or natural fibre reinforced concrete, cement-based smart and functional materials for infrastructure, applications of nanotechnology in cement-based materials etc. In Structural Engineering, his research interest falls in seismic testing, analysis and design of steel-concrete composite high-rise buildings, performance-based multi-hazards mitigation of building structures under extreme loadings, precast concrete segmental bridges, fibre-reinforced concrete ground slabs, impact and fracture of natural fibre reinforced concrete, structural-function integrated structural panels, and numerical modelling of fracture and structural behaviour of concrete and concrete structures which brings his expertise in Construction Materials & Technology and Structural Engineering under one umbrella.

Dr. Liu Yang is jointly appointed as an Assistant professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Department of Industrial Systems Engineering and Management at National University of Singapore. She received her B.S. from Tsinghua University, MPhil from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and Ph.D. from Northwestern University. Previously, Dr. Liu worked as a consultant at Cambridge Systematics and provided modeling expertise to public agencies such as Chicago Department of Transportation. She has worked on the research projects funded by US and Singapore public agencies, including US Federal Highway Administration, National Science Foundation, Singapore Ministry of Education, and ST Engineering. Dr. Liu's research focuses on future mobility and transport, which covers topics in the areas of ridesharing and carsharing systems operations and design, information provision and routing in connected transportation networks, and travel demand and congestion management. Her work has been published in the major journals in transportation area, including Transportation Research Part A, B, C, and E. She served as a member on the editorial advisory board of Transportation Research Part B:Methodological and an Area Editor for 2017 COTA International Conference for Transportation Professionals. Currently, she serves as a member on the editorial advisory board of Transportation Research Part C:Emerging Technologies, Cleaner Logistics and Supply Chain, and Journal of Transportation Systems Engineering and Information Technology. Dr. Jun-Seok Oh is the Professor of Civil and Construction Engineering and the Director of the Transportation Research Center for Livable Communities (TRCLC) at Western Michigan University, USA. He has led research activities to address the nation's critical transportation challenges through prism of livable communities and to improve affordable and environmentally sustainable transportation options for conventionally underserved communities. His research has been applying advanced technologies to transportation issues. He has participated in a wide range of research activities related to traffic management techniques in the context of advanced traffic management and information systems. His expertise includes transportation network optimization, traffic modeling and simulation, transportation data analysis, transportation and health, and traffic safety analysis. He earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Irvine in 2001.

Dr. Shafieezadeh is the Lichtenstein Associate Professor in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geodetic Engineering and is the director of the Risk Assessment and Management of Structural and Infrastructure Systems(RAMSIS) lab at Ohio State University at The Ohio State University. His research interests include multi-hazard reliability and risk-based life-cycle analysis of the built environment; resilience assessment and improvement of civil infrastructure systems; aging and deterioration modeling; uncertainty quantification; and decision making in uncertain environments. His research on resilience of the power grid in the face of climatic extremes and dynamic risk quantification and communication of risks to critical infrastructure systems have been supported by US federal and state agencies, the industry and international research institutions. He is a recipient of the Sam Nunn Security Fellowship on the role of technology in public policy from Sam Nunn School of International Affairs at Georgia Institute of Technology. He holds a Ph.D. from Georgia Institute of Technology (2011), M.S. from Utah State University (2008) and both M.S. (2006) and B.S. (2003) from University of Tehran. He has authored/co-authored over 200 journal and conference proceedings and presentations. His research related to power grid resilience has been published in IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid, Applied Energy, IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, IEEE Access, Reliability Engineering and System Safety, and Structural Safety, among others.

Dr. Zhang is an Associate Professor in Structural Engineering and Head of International for the School of Engineering and the Built Environment at Edinburgh Napier University. Before joining Edinburgh Napier University in 2004, he worked on his PhD project at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology investigating structural performance and developing novel finite elements for transfer plate structures in tall buildings. Prior to his PhD study, he also practised as a structural engineer in China and became a chartered engineer in China in 1999. Dr Zhang's research focuses on engineered bamboo-timber composite in construction, laminate glass structures, pre-stressed concrete and steel-reinforced concrete structures in complex loading conditions. Currently, he is devoting himself to developing bamboo-timber composite materials for long span and tall building structures with a patent filed in 2020. He has extensive experiences in photogrammetry technology, software development and multiple sensor systems in civil engineering studies. In one of his research with the advantaged photogrammetry technology, he has been able to give several convincing recommendations on the torsion test method for timber beams which have been adopted by the European standard: EN 408. (EN 408:2010 currently under review and revision). He is also an experienced computer programmer who developed several analyse and design software packages for trusses and scaffolding structures. Dr Zhang has led several research and knowledge transfer projects funded by the Royal Academy of Engineering, Scottish Founding Council, Innovation UK, British Council, etc. His research has been published widely in both highly ranked civil engineering journals and conference proceedings. He is a member of CEN/TC 124/WG-1 committee for European Standard: EN408 review and revision. He also frequently organised and chaired special sessions, gave keynote speeches and guest lectures in international conferences and other universities.

Dr. El Naggar is a Professor of GeoStructural/Geotechnical Engineering at Dalhousie University with more than 25 years of experience in civil construction, geotechnical and structural engineering and research in Canada and overseas. He has participated in several geotechnical and structural investigations and is experienced in the analysis and design of foundations and soil-structure interaction of buried infrastructure. Dr. El Naggar and his research team have investigated the soil-structure interaction (SSI) effects around buried infrastructure; explored innovative use of tire derived aggregate (TDA) as a buffer zone to create stress arching and reduce demand on rigid pipes, proposed an earth pressure reduction system using geogrid reinforced platform bridging system to reduce stresses on buried utilities, and developed innovative cellular precast concrete pipe system. Also, He has developed a simplified technique to account for the group Effect in pile dynamics; and closed form solutions for the moments and thrusts in jointed and un-jointed composite tunnel lining systems, designed several foundation systems ranging from machine foundations subjected to dynamic loads to raft foundations for underground structure, as well as several tunnels and underground structures in Canada, Europe, Middle East, and the United States. The findings from Dr. El Naggar research have been reported in several technical publications covering both experimental and numerical work in the fields of soil-structure interaction, buried infrastructure and concrete pipes. Dr. El Naggar’s research work on the seismic performance of corrugated steel plate culverts led to changing the seismic provisions of the new version of the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CHBDC, 2019) to include rigorous dynamic analysis for flexible buried structures in zones of high seismicity. Besides, his work on the modelling of rigid pipes is featured in the CHBDC (2019) as an example of the best practice in the modelling of buried concrete structures.

Dr. Seyed Ghaffar is a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in Civil Engineering. He is a Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng, MICE), a Member of the Institute of Concrete Technology (MICT), and a Fellow of Higher Education Academy (FHEA). He is the leader of Additive Manufacturing Technology in Construction Research Group (AMTC). The focus of AMTC is on valorizing construction and demolition waste using materials science and 3D printing to achieve the circular economy goals of sustainable construction. Dr. Ghaffar, as the Principal Investigator, has been successful in securing a 220K euros project funded by the H2020 EU Commission on ''Digital fabrication and integration of Material reuse for environmentally friendly cementitious composite building blocks (DigiMat) 2021-2023. Dr. Gaffar is the Principal Investigator of a 300K euros project funded by the British Council (Institutional Links) on 'Direct Writing of Cementitious Inks to Scaffolds with Complex Micro architectures (DiWoCIS) 2020-2022. He is also the Principal Investigator of a 300K euros project funding from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) on 'High-Performance Compressed Straw Board (HP-CSB): A New Generation of Building Materials' 2018-2022. Dr. Gaffar's research covers a number of construction materials, with a focus on the development of low carbon technologies suitable for new and retrofitting applications by combining materials sciences and innovative technologies. Dr. Gaffer is the Associate Editor of the Journal of Results in Engineering (Elsevier) and the Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers Structures and Buildings (ICE Publishing). During his Ph.D. (2012-2016), Dr. Gaffar was simultaneously working as a research associate on several European research projects, i.e. Grow2Build, VIP4ALL, REWOBIOREF, and GELCLAD. Natural fiber composite production, formulation, and characterization are part of Dr. Gaffar's research expertise. In 2015, he was appointed Manager of Grow2Build European Centre of Excellence (Grow2Build), which serves as a permanent focal point for local manufacturers, industries, and research centers interested in bio-based building products, providing technical support and innovation for utilization of bio-based products in the construction industry. Professor Young-Jin Cha received his Ph.D. (2008) from Texas A&M University in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, M.S. (2004) from Yonsei University, and B. E. (2002) from Kumoh National Institute of Technology. He started as a post-doctoral fellow (2009) in the City College of New York by collaborating with Professor Anil Agrawal who is Editor in Chief of the Journal of Bridge Engineering, ASCE, then he became post-doctoral associate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) (2012). He then joined the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Manitoba in 2014. His extensive research activities in the Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) and structural control for seismic damage reduction have led to the publication of 41 peer-reviewed, high-impact papers in top journals including one editorial, including Computer-Aided Civil Infrastructure Engineering (CACIE) (impact factor (IF): 11.775, top rank 1 in Civil Engineering), IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics (IF: 8.236), Automation in Construction (IF: 7.7), and Structural Health Monitoring (IF: 5.929). He works as an associate professor at the School of Civil Engineering, Lanzhou Jiaotong University. His research interests include Bridge engineering and Frozen soil engineering, especially for earthquake prevention and disaster mitigation of infrastructures under extreme environmental conditions in cold regions. In 1988 she passed her General Certificate of Education with full marks. In 1995 she received her degree in Civil Engineering with full marks and honors. In 1999 she received the Geotechnical Engineering Doctors degree. In 2000-2002 she performed her research activity as a post-doctorate researcher in Geotechnical Engineering. In 2001 and 2002 she spent some periods at Bristol University (UK) performing shaking table tests on DSSI. In 2002-2004 she was a research assistant in Geotech. Eng. at the University of Catania. In 2005-2011 she was a researcher in Geotech. Eng. at the University of Catania. She won the IGS Student Award, the Premio Troiano award, and an ECOLEADER grant. She has taught the following courses: Soil Mechanics and Dynamics, Geotechnics, Foundations, Laboratory of Static and Dynamic Geotechnical Engineering; and several Ph.D. lectures and 2nd Level Master lectures. She has been the scientific director of numerous national and international research projects. She has attended numerous national and international conferences, often presenting her scientific works as an invited lecturer. She is the author of more than 130 papers. She was head of the Geotechnical Engineering Section of DICAR in Catania. She has organized numerous conferences, workshops, and national and international professional courses. Ladislav Routil completed his doctoral studies at the Brno University of Technology, Faculty of Civil Engineering (Institute of Structural Mechanics). For his dissertation, he was awarded by Czech Concrete Society Award for Excellent Dissertation in the Field of Concrete. She received her Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. She joined the faculty of the Department of Civil Engineering at National Chiao Tung University (NCTU) in 2012; she is now the professor in the Division of Structural Engineering and Materials, Department of Civil Engineering at National Yang-Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU). Dr. Panuwat Joyklad earned his bachelor degree in civil engineering (1st Class Honor) from Naresuan University in 2003. In 2005, he holds his master degree from school of Civil Engineering at Asian Institute of Technology in field of structural engineering. Prior to join in doctoral degree, Dr. Panuwat served as a bridge design engineer at TEAM Consulting Engineering and Management Company in which the high technique skills for design of advanced structures was developed. Dr. Conti is an Associate Professor in Geotechnical Engineering at the University of Rome Niccolo Cusano, since 2015. He joined Cusano in 2013 as Lecturer, after three-years Post-Doc at the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA) in Trieste (Italy). He received his PhD in Geotechnical and Structural Engineering from University of Rome Tor Vergata (Italy), in 2010. During his PhD, he spent nine months as a Visiting Research Student at the Schofield Centre of University of Cambridge (UK). His main research interests are: (i) theoretical, numerical and experimental modelling of static and dynamic soil-structure interaction problems; (ii) constitutive modelling of geomaterials; (iii) performance-based design of geotechnical structures under seismic actions; (iv) modelling and interpretation of liquefaction phenomena. He is author and co-author of more than 60 papers in journals and conference proceedings. He participated to (and is currently involved in) several Regional, National and International Research Projects, as Researcher, Coordinator of local research unit or Principal Investigator.

Dr. Guido Andreotti is an assistant professor in Italy at University School for Advanced Studies IUSS Pavia, working in synergy with the EUCENTRE Foundation. He graduated from the University of Pavia (Italy) with BSc in Natural Sciences, BSc, and MSc in Civil Engineering. He worked for several years as a consultant before undertaking a Ph.D. in Earthquake Engineering. He was visiting researcher at the University of California Berkeley (USA) and the University of Canterbury (New Zealand). The main research aim is to try to bridge the gap between structural and geotechnical engineering, allowing the development of innovative solutions for the study of the seismic behavior of underground structures. Research interests include several aspects of earthquake geotechnical engineering, in particular: soil-structure interaction, assessment of seismic damage, vulnerability and seismic risk of underground constructions, site response analysis, and definition of the seismic input. His experiences also include the study and the numerical modeling of earthquake- and rainfall-induced landslides.

Dr. Kinjal J. Shah currently works as an Associate Professor at the College of Urban Construction, Nanjing Tech University, Nanjing, China. He completed his Ph.D. in applied sciences at the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Taiwan in 2015. He began his research career in 2009 at the Shah Schulman Center for Surface Science and Nanotechnology (SSCSSNT), DDU, India. During his last 10 years as a research career, he has published more than 35 SCI articles and 2 books and 8 book chapters in internationally accredited journals. Dr. Khan received his PhD degree from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Brunel University London in 2019. Dr Khan joined the Department of Building Services Engineering at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University as a Research Assistant Professor in November 2019. His research focus is solving challenging structural engineering and mechanics problems to benefit the built environment and society. In particular, he has developed expertise in the analysis of structural response during extreme loading conditions, such as a fire. Over the past 9 years, his research interest has been to understand the fire response of structures exposed to real fires using computational methods validated with experiments. He aims to move away from the prevalent prescriptive structural fire design approach by developing new and rational methods that combine realistic demand (fire and loads) with scientifically robust estimates of structural capacity (fire resistance) to ensure reliable performance. Dr. Valentino Sangiorgio is a post-doctoral researcher in Building Engineering (Universitat Politecnica de Valencia, Spain). His research deals with the challenge of the Digital Transition in building construction. This research involves a high level of interdisciplinary collaboration due to the need to reconcile classical building engineering concepts with novel technologies and performance analysis approaches. Current research studies include: i) Resilience of building constructions exposed to climate change and extreme natural events (Multi Risk Analysis); ii) Application of novel technologies in construction (e.g. Augmented Reality, User Reporting, 3D printing). His academic profile is characterized by a high degree of international activity. Dr. Marco Bonopera is a postdoctoral researcher in the Office of General Director at National Center for Research on Earthquake Engineering, Taiwan. He received his PhD from the University of Ferrara, Italy, with an emphasis in literature in 'Theoretical and Experimental Mechanics of Solids and Structures' and 'Structural Engineering'. His research interests include structural health monitoring and assessment using static load and dynamic vibration testing. His main research is focused on detecting prestress losses in concrete bridges. His areas of further research forecast studies on the long-term concrete behavior of prestressed structures without and under cracking, and corresponding implementations of nonlinear finite element analyses. His interests also approached the implementation of finite elements for describing the behavior of granular flow in storage steel silos under seismic loading.

In 1984, he graduated with honor from the Civil Engineering Department of Engineering Faculty, Gazi University, Ankara, Turkey. In 1985, he became a research assistant in the Civil Engineering Department of Engineering Faculty of Gazi University and meanwhile completed his MSc study in Geotechnical Engineering at Middleaest Technical University (METU) in Ankara. In 1986, he, as a research fellow, participated in the soil improvement works of catalan Dam and HEPP site (grouting of the foundation soil to obtain impermeable formation) under the auspices of Adana Regional Directorate of State Water Works of Turkey and compiled all works in a booklet. In 1989, he got a scholarship to do a Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering in the Civil Engineering Department of Bradford University, England. In 1991, while being a Ph.D. student, he was also a representative of Turkey for Professional Access Project conducted by the collaboration of BSC partnership and British Council, Leeds, England. In between 1992 and 1993, he worked as a part-time instructor teaching experimental soil mechanics in the Civil Engineering Department of Bradford University. In 1993, he, along with Prof. Dr. G. S. Littlejohn, carried out laboratory studies to find out the appropriate chemical grout for the improvement of soil conditions of the Jubilee Line Extension of the London Underground. In 1994, after returning to Turkey, he became an Assistant Professor in the Civil Engineering Department of Gazi University. In 1996, he became Associate Professor, and then in 2001, he became Professor of Geotechnical Engineering. He has supervised many projects, especially in Geotechnical Engineering Field at home as well as abroad. He is also working as a consultant for Construction Companies and government agencies. He has specialized in the field of Geotechnical Engineering, especially in ground improvement, Foundation Engineering, Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering. He has published five books and 100 articles. 70 of these articles are published in the journals indexed by SCI and/or SCI-Expanded. In 2011, during the 20th Anniversary of Ukraine Independence, he was nominated as a candidate for the awards of the leaders of science, culture, and business organized in Kyiv. In between 10 September 2008 and 10 September 2012 he was a founding rector of Bayburt University in Turkey.

Valeria Licata received her PhD in Geotechnical Engineering at University Federico II of Naples (Italy) and BSc and MSc in Civil Engineering at the same university. After the PhD, she spent her time for some years as PostDoc studying seismic microzonation and soil liquefaction, respectively, in the Metropolis and ReLuis research projects. Currently, she is working for an Italian government institution - National Autonomous Roads Corporation (ANAS S.p.A) - Ferrovie dello Stato Holding - and, as Geotechnical engineer, is the coordinator and responsible of the Geotechnical projects involved with the design of road infrastructures. She was also commissioned as specialist for testing the new viaduct in the Polcevera valley, Genoa (Italy). Valeria is the secretary and the member of PIARC Italy (World Road Organization) for which is dealing with the resilience of geotechical systems. The research activity is still carrying on by collaborating with different universities whose topics are ranging over the development of a new non-linear approach to perform 1D seismic response analyses, the assessment of the seismic performance of footing systems (piles vs caisson foundations) and the study of the fragility of pier foundation systems as a tool to manage the seismic risk. This latter topic is the object of a Research Agreement between ANAS S.p.A. and the University Federico II (Naples, Italy) where Valeria is the co-coordinator.

Francesco Pugliese received his BSc and MSc in Civil and Environmental Engineering (cum laude) at the Second University of Naples, Italy. He then joined the international program Erasmus Mundus Masters Course in the 2017, receiving the advanced Master in Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Seismology (MEEES). Francesco completed the MRes (Master of Research, with distinction) in Decision making under risk and uncertainty at the University of Liverpool in 2019. He was awarded by EPSRC - CDT program (2018-2022, Grant: EP/L015927/1,Link https://app.dimensions.ai/details/grant/grant.4576858). Mr Pugliese is a PhD Candidate in Seismic Assessment and Risk Analysis of reinforced concrete structures with ageing in the School of Engineering, University of Liverpool. He is also affiliated to the Institute for Risk and Uncertainty at the University of Liverpool and is Member of Resilient and Sustainable Infrastructure Group led by Dr. Luigi Di Sarno. Francesco has developed novel cost-efficient strategies for the evaluation of residual capacity of existing RC structures and infrastructure with ageing. Such strategies employ advanced machine learning Genetic-based algorithms for the optimization of most used steel constitutive models for the monotonic and cyclic behaviour of smooth rebars. To achieve this aim, he is working in the direction of characterization (geotechnical, chemical, and microstructural) of industrial waste and development of sustainable civil engineering material from the same. During his Ph.D, he was working on the geotechnical characterization of red mud, (Bauxite residue) and published his research in high quality journals and reputed conferences. He has been awarded by IGS- Young Geotechnical Engineer Biennial Award in 2019 as well as in 2020 for his research work.

Dr. Saravanakumar Palaniraj is an Associate Professor in Civil Engineering Department, Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology, India. He received his Ph.D. in Strength and Durability Characteristics of Recycled Aggregate concrete with Admixtures. He has rich experience in teaching, research and industry of about 20 years. His research areas include Alternative construction materials, Sustainable Construction and Rehabilitation of structures. He is an author of over 30 referred journal papers and his citation crossed over 240 times in Scopus and about 300 times in Google scholar. He also presented his research presentations in more than 50 International conferences. He received a Certificate of Outstanding contribution in Reviewing from Journal of Construction and Building Materials in the year 2018 and he is an active member in many professional bodies.

Dr. L Ponraj Sankar is a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at CMR Institute of Technology, Hyderabad, India. He received his Doctorate in Civil Engineering and Masters degree in Structural Engineering from the prestigious Anna University, Chennai, India. He completed his Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from ACCET, Karaikudi, India. During earlier stages, he started his engineering education by undergoing a Diploma course in Civil Engineering from Government Polytechnic, Tuticorin, India. He completed his doctoral thesis under the title Investigating and Modeling of Fine Fly Ash High-Performance Concrete. This is one of the emerging civil engineering fields, where he has proven himself through his major publications in reputed journals. His areas of research interest are High-Performance Concrete, Reinforced Concrete Structures, Structural Design of Multistory Building, Retrofitting and Rehabilitation of Structures, FEM Analysis, Optimization technique, and Soft computing. He has more than 40 publications (SCI and Scopus) in international Journals and Conferences and also he has presented his research work at an international conference held at Mahsa University, Malaysia. He possesses 16 years of academic experience serving in Indian colleges/Universities and Haramaya University, Ethiopia. Also, he has 18 years of industrial experience in Structural Design and Construction of Multistory Buildings including Retrofitting and Rehabilitation. Dr.Ponraj Sankar has been recognized for his teaching, research, and consultancy work for Private and Government bodies. He holds professional membership and is frequently invited as conference chair and guest speaker at national and international conferences. He has reviewed much technical publications for reputed journals and guided graduate and doctoral sholars.\His research works are applied for Indian Patent publications and He is very keen on disseminating acquired knowledge and learning new technologies.

Dr. C.V.SIVA RAMA PRASAD, Associate Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, Vignana Bharathi Institute of Technology(Autonomous), Hyderabad. Did his Ph.D. from ANU on Bacterial Concrete as a self healing material : An experimental Investigation. Prior to joining in VBIT, Hyderabad, He worked as a Lecturer at Bule Hora University in Ethiopia during 2015-2017 and worked as Structural Engineer at Bhosho Architects Pvt Ltd, Hyderabad. Presently he is a structural consultant also in Hyderabad along with Teaching and Research and He is working for Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Sponsored Research Projects with state and central government. His research interests are Bacterial Concrete, Industrial RCC and Steel Chimneys, Special Concrete, Structural Materials. He published one book on Industrial RCC and Steel Chimneys. He organized several Seminar, workshops, FDPs during his tenure. He published several papers in reputed journals and presented papers in international conferences and national conferences. He is a Reviewer for various reputed international journals. He is associated with various collaborations from different countries. Dr.C.V.Siva Rama Prasad is a Life Member of the Indian Concrete Institute and the Indian Institute of Bridge Engineers.

Dr. Shriram Marathe, hails from Bantakal parish, Shirva village of Kapu taluk, Udupi district. He completed his early education in Bantakal, Udupi and Shirva. He received his B.E. degree in Civil Engineering in 2012 from NMAM Institute of Technology Nitte affiliated to VTU Belagavi (CGPA 9.51/10.0) and M.Tech.[Transportation Engineering] in 2014 (CGPA 9.00/10.0) from National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering Sciences from VTU Belagavi in the area of Eco-friendly Concrete Pavements. He also completed Master Facilitator Degree (MFLHRD) in Human Resources Development from College of Leadership and Human Resource Development, Mangalore in the year 2018 and presently he is a certified HRD trainer. He cleared GATE-2012 with an All India Ranking of 2767 (93 percentile) and Secured MHRD Scholarship for Post Graduation for M.Tech at NITK. Till date, he completed three online NPTEL MOOC courses with ELITE grade as a part of continued education. He also cleared 08 Coursera MOOC courses with good grades. His areas of research interests include Alkali-activated (Geo-Polymer) Concrete applications to pavements, Stabilization of Sub-grade soil, Road Safety, Pavement Material characterization, and Pavement Design. He has guided 19 B.E. Projects, and 11 M.Tech dissertations; currently, he is guiding 01 M.Tech projects and 01 B.E project. Being a coPrincipal Investigator he has successfully executed one funded research project of Rs. 4.95 lakhsnamely "Study and to Develop Cost Effective and Green Masonry Block Using Industrial Waste Materials", funded by Nitte Education Trust. Till date, he has published over 50 research articles out of which 12 articles are published in scopus indexed journals (Three Quality-1 articles). Out of his research contribution 25 research articles are published in international journals, 08 technical papers in National journals, and also include conference proceedings papers at 13 National/International conferences, and 5 papers are accepted for the publication. Further, he also filed a patent on his invention entitled, "Sustainable Pervious Alkali Activated Concrete Paver Block Pavement for Ground water Recharge" on 29-07-2020.

Dr. Parthiban Kathirvel has received his Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering (2006) from SASTRA Deemed University, Master of Engineering in Computer Methods & Applications in Structural Engineering (2008) from Coimbatore Institute of Technology, Coimbatore, Master of Business Administration in Technology Management (2011) from Anna University and Doctor of Philosophy in Civil and Structural Engineering (2017) from SASTRA Deemed University. He is presently the Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering at SASTRA Deemed University, Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, India where he has been emphasizing the development of geopolymer concrete as well as the effective utilization of recycled concrete aggregates in the development of high performance concrete. He teaches several courses on Analysis & Design of Concrete Structures and Seismic Design of Structures. Dr. Kathirvel has more than 11 years of teaching experience along with 9 years of research experience in the field of construction materials in addition to 1 year industrial exposure as Structural Engineer in the Precast Engineering Division of TRC Worldwide Engineering, Chennai. He is holding life membership in Professional bodies such as The Institution of Engineers (India), Indian Society of Systems for Science & Engineering (ISSE), Indian Geotechnical Society (IGS) and Indian Concrete Institute (ICI). Over the course of 11 years in academic and research field, Dr. Kathirvel has participated and presented several research papers in National/International Conferences/Workshops and published over 25 research articles in various refereed journals along with Chapters in Edited Volume of Books. In addition to the contribution towards his own publication, he is also serving as a Reviewer in various refereed journals in ELSEVIER, SPRINGER, ASCE, WILEY, TAYLOR & FRANCIS database. He also served as a Guest Editor for Volume 80 of IOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science. His research spans the areas of transport planning, traffic safety, public transportation, travel behaviour and transport modelling. He has 4 years of teaching experience from Ho Technical University as a Teaching Assistant and later as Coursework Instructor. In his current position as CEO, he sees to effective supervision and administration of project staff which includes prioritizing and assigning work, performance management and employee relations, oversees and monitors work performed by vendors to ensure that contract plans, scope and specifications are adhered to.

Dr. Moustafa Moufid Kassem is currently working as a Postdoctoral fellow in School of Civil Engineering at Universiti Sains Malaysia. He obtained his bachelors degree in 2016 from Beirut Arab University in Lebanon, and he completed his Masters degree in 2017 in Structural Engineering field from University Sains Malaysia (USM) with a CGPA 3.80, and his PhD degree in 2021 from USM in Earthquake Engineering field, where he was awarded the USM fellowship for 3 years and award the 3rd position in 3MT thesis competition in Engineering Cluster.His research interest is on risk assessment, seismic hazard, structural analysis, numerical simulation, and modelling. I have taught at the graduate and undergraduate courses levels. Hehave taught nine different courses: 1) Theory of Structures, 2) Principle of Structural Design, 3) Structural Analysis I, 4) Structural Analysis II, 5) Structural Dynamics, 6) Reinforced Concrete Structural Design I, 8) Reinforced Concrete Structural Design II, and 9) Structures and Strength of Material Laboratory. He firmly believes in educating students with engaging and collaborative student-centered curricula that builds interpersonal rapport between students and the instructor. His research focuses on the use of probabilistic and statistical tools for modeling of extreme loads on structures. His doctoral research was in developing a seismic vulnerability index (SVI) for reinforced concrete buildings in Malaysia, and in the field of large-scale seismic vulnerability damage scenario. He has published 1 book, 1-e-bookand more than 25 reputable ISI/Scopus research papers in the field of structural and earthquake engineering, 4 book chapters in Springer, and 3 copyrights from Malaysia in developing a vulnerability index form and framework for damage building classifications in Malaysia. Currently, he also holds 1 national grant in Malaysia as a co-investigator that investigate the seismic expansion joint effectiveness on irregular buildings under seismic excitation
