More Information

The city is affectionately nicknamed Auld Reekie Scots for Old Smoky, for the views from the country of the smoke-covered Old Town. Edinburgh is Scotland's smaller, sloping capital. It has an archaic Old Town and rich Georgian New Town with gardens and neoclassical structures. Approaching over the city is Edinburgh Castle, home to Scotland's royal gems and the Stone of Destiny, utilized in the crowning ordinance of Scottish rulers. Arthur's Seat is an overwhelming top in Holyrood Park with clearing perspectives, and Calton Hill is finished off with landmarks and dedications.

December can be chilly, but is a good month to visit Edinburgh - Princes Street and George Street will be decorated for Christmas and the German Christmas market will be here
