Tassos Karayiannis studied at the CityUniversity London (BSc hons in Mechanical Eng.) and the University of Western Ontario (PhD in Eng. Science – Convective Heat Transfer). He started his career as a researcher at Southampton University and later as a British Technology Group Researcher at City University. Subsequently he worked at London South Bank University and joined Brunel University London in 2005 where he is now Professor of Thermal Engineering,Leader of the Two-Phase Flow and Heat Transfer Group and Director of the Energy Efficient and Sustainable Technologies Research Centre.Professor Karayiannis carried out fundamental and applied research in a number of single-and two-phase heat transfer areas. He has been involved with two-phase flow and heat transfer for over 30 years. Initially he worked on the enhancement of pool boiling and condensation processes using high intensity electric fields (Electrohydrodynamicenhancement of Heat Transfer). In parallel, he carried out extensive experimental work in pool boiling heat transfer with plane and enhanced surfaces. Professor Karayiannis has also been very actively involved with research in flow boiling in small to micro tubes and micro-multi-channels. He has published more than 260 chapters in books,papers and industrial reports. He is a Fellow of the EI, the IMechE and the WSSET, Member of the Assembly for International Heat Transfer Conferencesand the Chairman of the UK National Heat Transfer Committee.
John R. Thome isProfessor Emeritus at the EPFL and the Technical Director of JJ Cooling Innovation in Lausanne, Switzerland, which is a micro-two-phase electronics technology development company developing new technologies for a broad sector of the electronics market: automotive, data centers, aerospace, 5G, etc. These are comprised of gravity (thermosyphon), pumped and compressor driven and passive pulsating heat pipe driven cooling systems (https://www.jjcooling.com).He has 20+ years of research and development experience on microchannel two-phase heat transfer and micro-two-phase cooling systems for electronics and 40+ years of consulting experience with two-phase flow/heat transfer, anddevelopment ofhigh fidelity thermal-hydraulic simulation codes…our thermosyphon simulator won the 2020 ITHERM Best Paper Award. He formerly was Professor of Heat Transfer at the EPFL in Lausanne from 1998-2018 where he founded and directed the LTCM lab (https://archiveweb.epfl.ch/ltcm.epfl.ch) and was director of the EPFL Doctorale School of Energy for 15 years.He is the author of five books and is editor-in-chief of the Encyclopedia of Two-Phase Heat Transfer and Flow (16 volumes). He founded and chairs the Virtual International Research Institute of Two-Phase Flow and Heat Transfer (http://2phaseflow.org) that has some 30 participating members. He has about 250 journal papers with 27’500 citations (Google Scholar).He receivedthe2017Nusselt-Reynolds Prize, the 2019 IEEE ITHERM Award, the 2019 ASME InterPack Medal andthe 2010 ASME Heat Transfer Memorial Award, among others.He is also Chairman of ALPEMAsince 2008, an organization that develops and publishes industrial standards for large capacity cryogenic plate-fin heat exchangers (https://alpema.org).
Dr Yang Yu is a Data Scientist and Research Fellow at the Centre for Built Infrastructure Research, School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Technology Sydney, Australia. He is also an adjunct PhD supervisor at the University of Southern Queensland, Australia. Dr Yu’s research involves smart materials and structures, infrastructure condition assessment and health monitoring.
Dr. Alfonso Fuentes is an Associate Professor and Director of the Gear Research Consortium at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York. Prior to joining RIT, Dr. Fuentes was a Full Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) in Spain. Dr. Fuentes’ research focuses on the development of improved gear transmissions applied in helicopters, marine, and automotive industry, development of enhanced design technologies for all types of gear drives, and development of IGD – Integrated Gear Design computer program as the ultimate tool for advanced gear design, analysis, and simulation of any type of gear drive. Dr. Fuentes has authored more than 140 publications, including journal articles, book chapters, conference papers, and technical reports. He is subject editor for gears and cams for the journal Mechanism and Machine Theory.
Dr. Istvan Gabor Gyurika is an associate professor and the head of Department of Mechanics at the University of Pannonia in Hungary. He is the president at the Manufacturing System Department of the Hungarian Scientific Association for Mechanical Engineering. He has lecturer and researcher experience for more than 15 years. He started scientific career at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics in 2006. He has been teaching and researching at the University of Pannonia since 2016. He coordinates a national funded project cooperating with manufacturing companies on development of new type CVD coating and CVD equipment. Currently he is guiding 4 PhD scholars. His research interest include industry 4.0, digital manufacturing and the cutting of different brittle materials.
Ir Prof Pak Kin Wong received the Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong, in 1997.He is currently a Professor in the Department of Electromechanical Engineering and Associate Dean (Academic Affairs), Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Macau. He is also the Fellow of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers and Chartered Fellow of Chartered Association of Building Engineers, U.K. His research interests include automotive engineering, artificial intelligence for medical diagnosis, fluid transmission and control and mechanical vibration. He has published over 266 scientific papers. 170 out of 266 are refereed journal papers.
Dr Pooja Sharma,is currently working as the Associate Professor of Mathematics in Department of Mathematics & Statistics, Manipal University Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. She has a rich and varied, teaching and research experience of over 17 years. Dr Sharma has been extensively carrying research in the field of fluid Mechanics. She has research specialization in the area of Multi-phase flows, Nano fluid flows, Entropy generation analysis, Heat & Mass Transfer etc. On her credit, she has published more than 35 research papers in peer reviewed journals, conference proceedings, book chapters. 4 research scholars have already been awarded PhD under her guidance. Currently she is guiding 3 PhD scholars. Dr Sharma is associated with many scientific associations, and along with this, she is also working as reviewer and member of editorial board for many leading International Journals. She is the life member of International Academy of Physical Sciences (IAPS), Indian Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (ISTAM), Indian Society of Heat & Mass Transfer (ISHMT). She has been the active member of organizing committees of various National and International Conferences and delivered the invited talks.
Jun Zha received the Ph.D. degree from the Xian Jiaotong University, Xian, China, in 2017. He is currently an Associate Professor with the School of Mechanical Engineering, Xian Jiaotong University. He has authored or coauthored more than 40 refereed papers, and has a number of invention patents in machine tools and measurement technology. His current research interests include manufacturing technologies, error measurement in machine tools, machine tools design and development.
Dr. Mohammed Hachemi is a temporary assistant professor in the department of mechanical engineering and researcher member at the MECACOMP laboratory of the University of Tlemcen-Algeria.His research interest generally includes the numerical methods applied to the mechanics of composite materials and structures, with different geometrical and physical properties. He has published scientific articles on renowned international journals.
Yongbin Zhang is currently a professor in College of Mechanical Engineering, Changzhou University, China. He has done the researches in lubrication, wear and friction more than 20 years. His current researches are on micro/nano flow and nanoporous membrane filtration. He has developed the flow equation for a nanoscale fluid flow and the theory of mixed rheologies in elastohydrodynamic lubrication. He has published more than 160 scientific papers on renowned international journals. His scientific achievements also include hydrodynamic lubrication with interfacial slippage, hydrodynamic lubrication in elastoplastic and fully plastic contacts, mixed lubrication and boundary lubrication.
Prof. Shehadeh has skills as a university lecturer/researcher for more than25 years. He started hisacademic career as teaching assistance at Arab Academy for Science & Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT). Then, during hisPhD studies at Heriot Watt University, U.K.,he was appointed as a researcher, moreover teaching assistant for teaching undergraduate-level courses in mechanical engineering department.Since 2008, he coordinates many international funded projects cooperating with European/Egyptian Universities. These projects were considering developing the postgraduate education and research activities in cooperating universities. In a broad outline, hisresearch interests lie in the areas of mechanical and material engineering.
Dr. Sachin Ghalme is currently working as Associate Professor in Department of Mechanical Engineering at Sandip Institute of Technology & Research Centre (SITRC), Nashik (MS), India. He has completed his research in the field of tribological performance of Silicon Nitride-hBN ceramic composite for biomaterial applications and awarded with the Doctor of Philosophy in the area of Mechanical Engineering from Department of Science and Technology, Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur (MS), India. He is having total 20 years of experience in the field of technical education. He has authored several scientific articles in peer reviewed and reputed International and National Journals. Dr. Sachin Ghalme is associated with many scientific associations, and along with this, he is also working as reviewer and member of editorial board for International Journals He has been awarded with ‘IARDO Distinguished Educator-2018’by International Association of Research and Development Organization, New Delhi.
